How to care for your gate in winter

Low temperatures and moisture are the biggest challenge for gate mechanisms in winter. Regularly clear snow and ice from the tracks and shaft to prevent jamming. Never force open a frozen gate: it can damage the drive or mechanism. Lubricate hinges and the shaft with seasonal grease before cold weather sets in, to reduce friction. For automated gates, check battery condition: low temperatures drain batteries faster. If the gate starts making unusual noises or moving slower than normal, call for service before the problem gets worse.
